Good Faith Estimate

The No Surprises Act (H.R. 133) effective January 1, 2022, requires that health care providers provide a Good Faith Estimate to every new and established patient who is either seeking treatment as a self-pay patient or is considered out-of-network with a provider. If you do not have insurance, or have chosen not to use your insurance, as of January 1, 2022, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate. The Good Faith Estimate will be provided to you inwriting to explain what the cost of your services will be. If you receive a bill that is more than $400 than your Good Faith Estimate, you have a right to dispute the bill. You may contact your provider to discuss the charges, ask to update the bill to match the Good Faith Estimate, or ask to negotiate the bill. The Good Faith Estimate is not a contract and does not require you to receive services from the provider. To learn more about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
